Man, I miss these animations. Filled with memories of my early years. Remember kids, stay as young as you can. Don't be like me, my life is practically over I remember watching this with a group of friends for a school project. At the end, I had to say ‘It’s easy to see that they are mockingbirds’. They then proceeded to throw objects at me for that joke. Can’t blame them. I remember watching this clip in the movie theatre before Monsters Inc started playing. Good times, good memories. Pixar was the best. I remember my mom had this video downloaded on her laptop and had other short animations we would watch on it, good times.
The short movie is pretty accurate. Doing what you want without paying attention or respect to other people or your surroundings will kick you in the ass with time. Also, aggression engages you in meaningless, petty „battles“ that waste your time, energy and finally don’t do you any good. Cruel people always get some sort of payback over time because of the countless people who won’t do them a favor, who don’t want to hang out with them and who don’t want to be their partner. And because being cruel comes from being damaged inside and if one does not overcome what is broken, one digs oneself ever more deeply into the ground with no way to rise above oneself in sight. In fact, cruel people deserve pity to some degree but not fully because some of them are theoretically intelligent enough to overcome themselves but are too lazy.
I remember seeing this as a pre-show short film before the actual movie started. I remember asking myself what those small birds were thinking when they started dislodging the large bird's claws from the springy wire line! Hilariously funny! :D If you are in a bad mood, you can come and see these animations. It can make you feel good in an instant. I hope everyone can keep a young heart anytime and anywhere This is an awesome tool for communication and emotions. I am definitely using this video as a great resource for cultural diversity and communication. Hahaha my puppy is laying on my lap and i found this video to see if she watched it and she did. She moved even closer to the screen and if i moved the phone, she just continued watching. She is to cute.
I always wonder how many people realize that you no longer hear the original music that was married to this short. The original version of the short used music played by Riders in the Sky. The music was published and copywritten by Disney, Sony and Pixar. The problem is that the piece is called "Jammin' with Jimmy" and it was actually written and released in 1960 by Jimmy Bryant on Capitol Records. My daughter was watching Monsters Inc. and the short was included with it. I heard the music and immediately recognized it as the Jimmy Bryant piece because he is one of my guitar heroes. When the credits rolled by I noticed that it was credited to Riders in the Sky. Well, as fate would have it... I KNOW JIMMY BRYANT'S SON AND DAUGHTER! I contacted them, they released it and brought legal proceeding against Disney, Sony and Pixar. I never knew if they received compensation for the past use of the music, but from that point on you never saw the short with that music. Sorry to ruin it for everyone, but you can't steal people's music.
What a fabulous little film and fabulous music too. Have to save this; really made me smile. Actually, I think I have to share it. It’s too good not to. I’m here because I remembered watching this at one of Disney’s hotels and I fell in love with this short I was in class, my teacher showed me this video and I was laughing so hard that my face was red
when I was younger the bird looked for scary to me...that bird really scared me but now it looks like a big friendly bird..
my teacher assigned this to me for school and i was mad because i was planning to match this on my own time- now i HAVE to watch it and do it as an assignment- I think the video is so that children understand that if you don't respect others, they won't respect you either. You saw how everyone laughed at the giant bird for being hairy, well he laughed at them when they had no hair.
A great teaching resource for cultural diversity and communication. I would love to use it as a teaching resource with source acknowledgement, if I may. Don't laugh at the one who's different, cause sometimes, the one who is different, is the one who ends up being the one who's better off, and you are the one who's different, and being laughed at.
